Welcome to EYFS

We aim for high standards in teaching, learning and behaviour, and endeavour our children to develop an understanding of our society, based on tolerance and respect for others.

Our EYFS helps all of our children build for their future. In our EYFS we recognise the importance of the foundations that we help all of our children to build, ensuring we educate the ‘whole child’, fostering social and personal skills as well as academic excellence.

Take a look at our Classroom!

We know how important your child’s start to education is and we strive to provide a happy, secure and caring environment in which children are encouraged to do their best at all times. We allow for exploration, challenge whilst helping to build resilience through both adult-led learning and structured play.

Our Curriculum

The Early Years Foundation Stage is about developing key learning skills such as speaking & listening, concentration, persistence, learning to work together & how to cooperate with others. It is also about developing early communication, literacy & numeracy skills that will prepare young children for Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum.

Well planned play is a key way in which children learn with enjoyment and challenge. Children progress towards achieving the Early Learning Goals by the end of the Reception year.

We follow ‘Development Matters’ to support our curriculum, in which there are seven area’s of learning;

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

We use Essential Letters and Sounds for our Phonics scheme. ELS is published by Oxford University Press and supported by their comprehensive set of fully decodable books. Oxford University Press’ Wordsparks, Project X, Hero Academy and Little Blending Books.
