What a Performance!

What two wonderful performances of Moana the children put on this week. It really is quite exceptional that a school like ours of just over 50 pupils can put on a show such as that involving all the children.

Thank you for all your help with bringing the children back to school on the Wednesday evening, for helping them with their words and songs at home and for all the brilliant costumes you either made or bought.

Thank you too for supporting the children with two near sold out performances.

A HUGE thank you to Miss Robertshaw for all the hard work she has put in over the past few weeks and also to Mrs Schnacke for making the wonderful props that were used. Thank you as well to all the staff who came back on Wednesday to supervise the children "behind the scenes".

My thanks too to the PFA for funding once again the cost of the show. These do not come cheap but I think you will all agree for what the children (and us and you!) get out of them they are well worth it.

I hope the Whole School Show is one of the legacies that I can leave this school and it will continue to be an annual summer event once I am no longer here. I know Miss Robertshaw is keen for this to happen too!

Next week is, of course, the last week of term and is going to be a very busy (and yes, emotional one).

Throughout my career one of my great loves has been reading stories to children and I have built up a personal collection of over 400 children’s story books.

On Monday next week I would like to give those all away to your children.

On Monday morning I will put all of them out in the hall and each child will be able to choose six to take home. Those books that are then left I will put into the school library. Oh and don’t worry if your child brings home a book with another school stamp in it or a library sticker – I can assure you that they have all been purchased by legitimate means! In addition if any have a sticker with a “This book belongs to D. Perrin” and an address on it don’t worry – this is not my address but the address of high rise flats I lived in in Oldham at the start of my career – they have long been demolished!

On Tuesday and Wednesday it is the Year 6 leaver’s trips. On Tuesday they are going to Dinosaur Mini-Golf and the Chill Factore at Trafford Park and on Wednesday they are travelling to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the day.

On Thursday I will be holding my goodbye assembly for the children. Just me and them. We will sing some of my favourite songs that we have done over the years, I will tell them one last story and say a few final “words of wisdom” to them.

Thursday evening it is our Year 6’s pizza party in our school hall.

On Friday next week at 9.10am it will be our Year 6 leaver’s assembly (that is why I am doing my goodbye on Thursday – Friday is a special day for our Year 6 so it should all be about them). The assembly is traditionally only attended by parents of our Year 6 children but anyone is welcome.

I will be sending out one more weekly -probably very long!- Dojo to you next week (on Thursday) and I would very much like to say my personal goodbyes to you out on the cobbles on one of the mornings next week.

Finally, today, your child will be bringing home their annual report for this past academic year. I hope you enjoy reading about the progress that they have made.

For the last time I wish you all a very good weekend.

Come on England!
