World Book Day
Good Morning Everyone.
It has been a good start to the second half of the school year this week.
Looking a little ahead, on March 7th it is World Book Day.
As usual, every school child will get a token that can either be used for a £1 off the price of any book costing £2.99 or more or it can be exchanged for one of the special books produced for this year. A poster of these titles is attached to this Dojo. Children will be bringing their tokens home tonight. They are valid until the end of March.
We are going to hold two events for World Book day this year – one for home and one in school.
For this year's “home task” we would like children to get creative! We're asking your child to design and decorate their own paper plate book character. They can use any extra materials they wish to transform their paper plate into their favourite book character. Teachers will be sending each child home with a paper plate next week.'
These should be brought in on World Book Day itself (Thursday 7th March). It is not a competition but there will be a small reward for each entry!
In school on the 7th March we are going to have a “Bedtime stories day”. We would like all the children to bring in their favourite bedtime story book – we will then share these stories in class throughout the day. Of course bedtime wouldn’t be bedtime without pajamas! We would therefore like all children to dress up in their night wear that day (dressing gowns too are fine but please not slippers – normal school footwear should be worn).
Also on World Book day we are going to ask the children if there are any books that they would like to see in our school library.
We will compile a list of them and Jocasta from the PFA is then going to put them all onto an Amazon Wishlist.
The idea is then to share the link to this list with you (and perhaps you could in turn share it with your family and friends) and hopefully some of the books can then be bought for school by some of you very generous people (and your friends too!).
Next week sees another event across the Family of Learning Trust. On Wednesday Miss Dodd and I will be taking our School Council children to Dean Field School. There each School Council will be presenting to the others with some information they have put together about their schools. Our presentation will focus on the past, present and future of our school.
Later next month, our Year 4 children will be going to Shirley Manor School in Wyke to take part in some Forest School activities along with children from the other three schools in the Trust. More information will be given nearer the time to parents of those children.
Finally the Heptonstall PFA want to thank the children for being such rebels at 'Break The Rules Day'. It raised a brilliant £117.95!
A reminder that next Friday (1st March) it is once again a Good Work Assembly. It will begin at 2.45pm in the hall.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
David Perrin
