Reasons to be Cheerful
In my final Dojo post of the academic year to you last July, I began with the words:
“I have NEVER been more optimistic about the future of the school than I am now writing this final Dojo post to you.”
The first weeks of this term have really reflected that optimism in spades already. So, as Ian Dury and the Blockheads once said, here are our “Reasons To Be Cheerful 1,2,3” (although our Heptonstall version is like the 12 inch remix as I will list twice as many as that!)
Our new school dinners are delicious and the children are really enjoying them.
Our “Three class” system is now well embedded and working wonderfully.
Teachers from our school have already met and shared ideas and inspiration with their colleagues from the other schools in/joining the Family of Learning Trust. Our TAs are meeting with their colleagues across the Trust on Monday next week. More joint meetings are planned – and the first exciting event for the children from all the schools is coming soon when each schools’ School Council members come together at our school on the 12th October to talk about their own unique schools and educational experiences.
Our “Boom reader” way of recording what children read at home and school has taken off well.
Our Ofsted report, which we were delighted to finally be able to share with you this week, reflected on all that was wonderful – thank you by the way for the messages of congratulations you have sent, They mean a lot to us all. My favourite being:
“This does you and your staff enormous credit and the Ofsted report simply gives public affirmation of this. I'm sure it is a very nice cherry but it is just the cherry on top of the excellent Heptonstall school bun in my eyes!”
For the first time in many years we have been able to take on an extra member of staff at the school in Miss Sigsworth.
Yes indeed plenty of scope for optimism – and let’s remember this is only the second full week back!
On that happy note I will wish you all a brilliant weekend and look forward to another wonderful week of “Heptonstall Reasons To Be Cheerful” next week.
With my best wishes,
David Perrin
